Refreshingly, progress continues as folks generally respect varying viewpoints and find compromise. The desire to affect change can also be seen in the city's attempt to address issues related to race, climate change, and housing. Residents care deeply about the city and larger community and work together to affect change - whether traveling to Mexico to build houses through the community church or volunteering with the local chapter of Boys Team Charity. No city is perfect, but Piedmont comes close - providing strong public schools, a low crime rate, and fabulous community resources including an Arts Center, STEAM building, community pool, multiple parks, sports courts, and a thriving recreation center. That is one thing I would change, adding a downtown or something similar. I grew up in Pleasanton a few towns down and about 15 minutes away, and I would say it is pretty similar to Pleasanton just missing a cute downtown area to walk around. The city is sourrounded by beautiful hills and red wood trees that make you have a nice Northern California feel to it. They narrowed their search to the most affordable places that have a median home value of less than 300,000, which is near the national median of 263,200. I would definitely vouch for San Ramon not only being extremely safe feeling but also extremely clean kept and beautiful. To find the best places to work remotely, Sperling’s BestPlaces used metropolitan areas as the basis for their study instead of limiting their focus to only cities. Current Resident: I would say one of my main priorities when looking for a location to live is how safe the area/neighborhoods are. ![]()
